Free COVID-19 testing
Free COVID-19 testing is available through the city of Waxahachie hosting a site at the Waxahachie Senior Activity Center, 122 Park Hills Drive. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Self-collected shallow nasal PCR test; results within 24-48 hours; walkups welcome or book an appointment at curative.com.

2022 Dumbest Run 5K/marathon
The Waxahachie Running Club hosts its annual Dumbest Run 5K/marathon at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, around the historic Ellis County Courthouse in Downtown Waxahachie. This is a pick your own distance event where you circle the courthouse to your heart’s content. Walk a mile, run a 5K or do a full marathon. Start early, start late, but a group photo is planned for 7:30 a.m. The community is invited.

Bible study with ‘The Chosen’
Ferris Heights United Methodist Church in Waxahachie is hosting a new Bible study with “The Chosen” on Wednesdays starting Jan. 5. Two sessions are offered: at noon and at 6 p.m.
“Bring your meal and invite your friends and family to watch the series,” a spokesman said.
“The Chosen” is a successful television drama based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

Czech Music Festival
The Czech polka bands of Ennis invite the community to the 15th annual Ennis Czech Music Festival on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Sokol Hall, 2622 State Highway 34, Ennis.
Doors open at noon, with the festival featuring the Ennis Czech Boys, Jodie Mikula Orchestra, Czech & Then Some and The Moravians.
Tickets are $10 a person, with ages 12 and younger free. A catfish dinner for $12 will be served from 4-7 p.m.
The festival concludes at 10:30 p.m.
