It’s more than 10 months until the Texas Tech football team’s recruiting class for 2023 can sign letters of intent, but the Red Raiders already have eight prospects committed.
The latest came Sunday when Tyrone West, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Humble, announced for the Red Raiders. Though Tech is the only school who has offered West a scholarship so far, according to recruiting services, Rivals has him ranked as the No. 86 prospect in the state among this year’s high-school juniors.
By appearances, Tech’s new coaching staff also is sold on him. West announced on Nov. 8, the day after Joey McGuire was named head coach, that Tech had offered him a scholarship.
West was among a group of recruits who visited Tech on Saturday as part of the Red Raiders’ junior day. Burleson Centennial safety Chapman Lewis, another junior-day visitors, also committed to the Red Raiders.
