The NBA trade deadline brought more national attention to the Sacramento Kings than usual, but rather than Domantas Sabonis, Justin Holiday or even Donte DiVincenzo garnering renewed usage in NBA DFS player pools, perhaps Harrison Barnes could be the player worthy of added consideration. Even before the deadline Barnes had been heating up, and afterwards, he hit seven of his nine shots to score 21 points to go with five rebounds in a Saturday win. Over his last five starts, Barnes has averaged 24.2 points with 6.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals.
On Monday, the Kings play at Brooklyn against a Nets team that will be without Kevin Durant (knee), Kyrie Irving (ineligible), and Ben Simmons (reconditioning), who was just acquired in a trade. Can Barnes keep up his high level of play for another game against a down opponent and produce once again for NBA DFS lineups? Before you make your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.
McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.
This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.
On Sunday, McClure included Pacers power forward Jalen Smith as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Smith returned tremendous value as one of the most affordable options in Sunday’s NBA DFS player pool. His 17 points, 12 rebounds and one block returned 36 points on DraftKings and 34.4 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, February 14, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, February 14
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Monday is Bulls star DeMar DeRozan, who is listed at $10,200 on DraftKings and $10,400 on FanDuel. With just two games remaining for Chicago before the All-Star break, the Bulls’ top scorer is playing some of his best basketball of the season. Over his last five starts, DeRozan has shot just shy of 60 percent from the field, and averaged 38.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
The Bulls host San Antonio on Monday, and the Spurs are in the process of flipping their roster a bit as well following a trade with the Celtics that sent starting shooting guard Derrick White to Boston. Chicago recently played the Spurs on January 28, and DeRozan scored 32 points to go with eight assists and six rebounds. San Antonio opponents have hit 44.2 percent of their shots from 10-14 feet and 46.2 percent of their attempts from 15-19 feet, which is where DeRozan has hit 51 percent of his 600 total attempts from this year.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Knicks shooting guard Quentin Grimes ($3,000 on DraftKings and $5,200 on FanDuel). Grimes is coming off of a season-high 20 points in his fourth start against Portland on Saturday. With RJ Barrett (ankle) ruled out for a third consecutive game against Oklahoma City on Monday, Grimes figures to continue filling in for him.
The Thunder are stretched a bit thin with point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out until after the break, and Luguentz Dort (shoulder) ruled out for Monday’s game. Rookie Josh Giddey has been a capable defender for the Thunder this season, but Grimes should be able to work around him. Grimes hit five of his eight three-point attempts against the Trail Blazers on Saturday, and should come in ready to let shots fly from downtown yet again.
