Update (Thursday at 3:30 p.m.): Authorities identified the deceased individual as Ernest Everett Starnes III, 43, from Red Oak Texas, and the individual who was wounded as Jennifer Buckhannon, 46, also from Red Oak, Texas.
61-year-old Kenneth Ray Starnes of Waxahatchie, Texas was identified as the alleged shooter and was charged with one open count of murder in the first degee, three counts of aggravated battery (third degree felonies) and one count of negligent use of a deadly weapon (a misdemeanor).
One person died and another was injured in a shooting Monday evening (Dec. 27) in Angel Fire, according to a Facebook post Angel Fire Police Chief Brad McCaslin created on Wednesday (Dec. 29).
The post reads that officers from the village “responded to a report of a shooting involving two victims. One victim was transported to Taos Holy Cross Hospital for treatment and has since been released. The second victim was pronounced deceased on scene. One male suspect was taken into custody. This investigation is still ongoing.”
Many commenters on social media, some residents of Angel Fire, responded to the post with questions about the identities of the people involved and the location where the shooting took place. The department has yet to release that information.
The Taos News has submitted an information request to McCaslin for additional details on the incident.
This is a developing story.
