With distribution slated for the end of this week, the Salvation Army in Ellis County is finding itself with a major need for toys and gift items suitable for older children, ages 12-14.
“We have older children who haven’t been adopted,” Major Helene Wildish said. “Our goal is to not let a single child go without a gift for Christmas.”
Wildish is asking for the community’s support toward ensuring Ellis County’s older children also have something under the Christmas tree.
People can drop off toys and gift items anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Salvation Army’s Waxahachie offices, 620 Farley St. Toys and gifts are preferred as the time crunch now in play doesn’t leave much opportunity for the Salvation Army itself to do the shopping.
Wildish asked that all donations be in no later than Thursday so final preparations can be made for the distributions this weekend.
