
The Lady Raiders suffered their first loss of the season Sunday
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech women’s tennis program fell to No. 13 Texas A&M 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Complex.
Facing the stiffest test of the season so far, Texas Tech (3-1) fell behind early, dropping the doubles point in a pair of 6-3 decisions. Sophomore Margarita Skriabina and Cristina Tiglea were deadlocked at 4-all when the point was decided.
In singles action, Olivia Peet and Kailey Evans got off to a fast start, as the Lady Raiders No. 2 and No. 3 players each won their opening set, 6-3, before their matches ended unfinished.
One of the most impressive teams of the early season, Texas A&M (8-0) rolled to a pair straight sets victories on court one, four and five to move on to the Round of 16 of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The loss on court one, was Skriabina’s first of the season, as the Russian entered Sunday’s match at 6-0 on the season.
