The Teen Titans Main Characters, Ranked By Likability – Screen Rant

DC’s young heroes are as popular as ever, with fans recently creating awesome cosplays of the Teen Titan characters. When it comes to the hit 2003 Cartoon Network show, these beloved main characters all have redeemable and likable qualities, but as a whole, there is a clear hierarchy within the series. And though likability is rather subjective, each Teen Titans character has specific traits that logically increase or decrease their place in the ranking.

With every aspect in consideration, most characters in Teen Titans have something going for them, and here is how they all stack up against each other, villains included.

10 Gizmo

Gizmo Flying From Teen Titans

Gizmo had very few redeemable qualities throughout the series. Unlike the other villains who all had general arcs or changes throughout Teen Titans, Gizmo remained loud-mouthed, petty, and stagnant in his characterization. Compared to the main heroes of the show, he’s definitely at the bottom.

However, Gizmo is still unique and added flavor to the series with his childish insults and one-of-a-kind catchphrases. He used his intellectual abilities and gadgets to make up for his small stature, and there is something likable about Gizmo’s tenacity against larger Titans like Cyborg even with his tiny size.

9 Slade

Slade looking menacing in Teen Titans

Slade made for an amazing villain, but he was hardly likable. Ron Perlman’s character had the best villain arc in Teen Titans, as he turned into an anti-hero by the end of season 4, but his absence in season 5 and previous skirmishes with the Titans made him an inherently unlikeable person.

He put killer nanobots into the Titans in “Apprentice” to blackmail Robin, he was a large reason that Raven nearly destroyed the world in “The End,” and he was the catalyst for Terra’s “death” in season 2. So, needless to say, though Slade was a staple to the series and an icon in his own right, he’s not even close to being likable despite the esteem the fandom holds for his excellent character development.

8 Jinx

Jinx-in-Teen-Titans

Jinx was the only villain to fully renounce evil and turn into an honorary Teen Titan by the end of the series, and the episode “Lightspeed” fleshed her character out in an entirely new way. She was given more personality and charm, and the romance she explored with Kid Flash didn’t hurt her likability either.

Fans like someone to root for, and Jinx’s redemption arc was a storyline they could get behind. However, against the other heroes, she still falls a little flat given how long it took for her to change sides.

7 Terra

It may be surprising that Terra ranks lowest in terms of the main heroes, but her character made so many egregious mistakes and unlogical decisions that in reality, she wasn’t all that likable. She easily turned on Beast Boy over a simple misunderstanding in her debut episode “Terra,” and she lied to the team for weeks when she went undercover for Slade during the rest of season 2.

Of course, Terra did end up sacrificing herself to save the Teen Titans in “Aftershock Part 2,” so she does have some redeemable qualities despite her character being on the more unlikable side.

6 Raven

Raven in the episode The Prophecy from Teen Titans

Although Raven is a fan favorite and an example of excellent character development, she’s still the least likable Titan of the five. She’s cranky, dark, and withdrawn, and though she has a lot of heart, it’s definitely buried deep beneath the surface.

As the daughter of Trigon, Raven also has to keep her emotions controlled at all times, because if not, she could quite literally destroy the world as the strongest Teen Titan. This cold and detached quality then makes her appear less likable on the surface, but many Raven fans enjoy this unique aspect of her character because it sets her apart from the more generic heroes.

5 Robin

Robin getting ready to battle in Teen Titans

Robin is cocky and self-assured, and though both of these traits add to his capable leadership abilities, they don’t make him the most likable. He can come across as egotistical at times, and there’s something alienating about the cool, cold facade he puts on as the masked hero.

Of course, Robin is still likable as a character in a television show, and his cool, collected persona is one of the most captivating of the series. His romance with Starfire is particularly engrossing, and there are also some amazing Robin quotes in Teen Titans. But as a person, his mood swings and obsession with crime wouldn’t realistically be much fun to experience.

4 Bumblebee

Bumblebee from Teen Titans

The leader of Titans East, Bumblebee is spunky, suave, and considered to be one of the strongest female characters in Teen Titans. She reveals herself as a double agent to Cyborg in “Deception,” and though she can have an arrogant streak, her character is distinctive enough in the series to be considered on the likable side.

Her bravery and confidence also contribute to this trait, and as one of the only Black Titans in the series, her character also adds some much-needed diversity to the cast.

3 Beast Boy

Beast Boy in Teen Titans

As one of the most caring and bubbly characters in the Teen Titans franchise, there isn’t much about Beast Boy that isn’t likable. However, for an older audience, his sense of humor can be overbearing and juvenile at times.

Beast Boy is always up for a good time, and his character helps fill in the chatty, cheerful side of the Teen Titans against the colder personalities like Raven and Robin. Beast Boy constantly delivers Teen Titan‘s funniest quotes to lighten the mood, and it also doesn’t hurt that he can turn into any adorable animal he wants.

2 Cyborg

Cyborg Smiling From Teen Titans

Cyborg is best known as the loud, boisterous, and friendly member of the Teen Titans, and these qualities all contribute to his very likable nature. He’s a fix-it man at heart, and his willingness to mend any technical problem is a great attribute of his character.

Many Cyborg-focused episodes also deal with his robotic modifications and the blurred line between his humanity and mechanical body parts, and this provides insight into a layer of vulnerability to his character that only adds to his likable personality.

1 Starfire

Starfire Fighting Blackfire in Teen Titans

Starfire is a sweet and innocent soul, and her naivety about Earthly customs is one of the most charming aspects of the entire series. She is so earnest and positive that she easily triumphs as the most likable Teen Titan character, and her romantic struggles with Robin are very relatable to a wide audience.

Plus, like Beast Boy and Cyborg, her character adds an incredible amount of humor to the series, and the combination of these traits helps propel her far beyond the other protagonists. It also doesn’t hurt that she has a similar-looking evil sister, Blackfire, whose villainy only further highlights just how charismatic Starfire really is.
